Michael Gillis (Phd Monash University) is the current Director of the Melton Centre for Jewish Education. His areas of research and teaching include the teaching of rabbinic literature and the philosophy of Jewish Education. He has a particular interest in the implications for Jewish education of the thought of Emmanuel Levinas. He has previously served as Director of Teacher Education in the Seymour Fox School of Education and as head of the education program in Revivim, an honours program which prepares teachers of Jewish studies in Israel’s general state education system.
